John Lennon’s LOVE

John Lennon‘s ‘Love’ must be the simplest love song ever written – no pomp, no circumstance. What it does declare unambiguously is an honest beat of fiercely raw human emotion – the pause in between notes a loud echo of the heart strings. If you listen well, you’ll realize it has a very universal message albeit a very romantic melody. I like it because it is free of any pretense – free from an attempt of ‘spiritualizing’ or reducing love to a mere mental idea. It puts me in a space where time stands still, a space where loving is not so much as thinking nor doing, but simply ‘Being’.

Love is real, real is love
Love is feeling, feeling love
Love is wanting to be loved

Love is touch, touch is love
Love is reaching, reaching love
Love is asking to be loved

Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
We can be

Love is free, free is love
Love is living, living love
Love is needing to be loved

"The beauty of the truth is that it need not be proclaimed or believed. It skips from soul to soul, changing form each time it touches, but it is what it is."— Mark Helprin
