a long walk

After a day’s toil, I was wretched,
Adamant to get home and lay my head to rest
Still 2kms away, the long walk home seems a dread
Feet falling heavily on the ground, each step a forceful tread
The weight of my bag, oh how it makes my shoulder numb

I close my eyes in silent prayer
Lord, give me strength for the days ahead.
